Patrick Pembele, head coach of Lions de Genève, has commented on his team's victory over Landau Lions.
According to Offsideplus.az, the Swiss specialist spoke about his team's game plan after the match.
"I want to thank the team. I have been an assistant coach for the national team. Since 2015, I would like to highlight the development of basketball in Azerbaijan. We analysed the opponent and their performance from last season. We focused on Freyzer, aiming to tighten his game and secure the win. Luck was on our side as well. Two of our key players were injured. We played with five defenders, and they had more shots," the head coach stated.
The Swiss specialist noted that their main objective against Freyzer was to prevent him from receiving the ball and playing comfortably.
"Yes, first and foremost, that was our main plan. Our second plan was to apply double defence on Freyzer, forcing him to pass more. He is a high-level player, and we couldn't risk allowing him to perform well. Additionally, we tried to engage him in defence to tire him out a bit. That was our goal."
